Detection & repair
Water leaks in walls
Investigate wet plaster, recurring stains and concealed wall supplies.
Does the mark lead back to a pipe?
The shape of a damp patch is only part of the story. We consider fittings on both sides of the wall, rooms above and the way the moisture changes. Surface readings and appropriate system checks help decide whether the plumbing evidence justifies opening that area.
A useful starting point
Tell us which side became damp first and whether weather or water use seems relevant. Existing photos before redecoration can be useful.
Tell us about any earlier investigation, even if it did not identify the source. Knowing which checks were made and what access was available helps us decide what remains useful.
Choose a test that answers a question
Moisture mapping may be useful where the conditions and pipe arrangement suit it. Readings vary between materials and cannot alone prove that a particular pipe leaks.
An investigation can combine methods. We explain the findings and their limits, including when the evidence does not yet justify an opening.
Agree access before the repair
Plastering, painting and treatment of historic damp damage are excluded. A building defect may require a different trade.
Once the proposed work is clear, the agreed plumbing repair is completed with the necessary parts and materials. Suitable checks follow the repair, and the report records relevant observations, work and any remaining matters.
