The Flow Detect notebook
Trace and access, explained plainly
Understand the investigation, the opening and the record of the work.
Tracing comes before the opening
The investigator considers suitable tests and the pipe arrangement to decide where access is justified. The visible patch may be displaced from the source.
Access is part of reaching the repair
A concealed pipe may need a wall, floor or ground surface opened. Agree what the plumbing work involves and which finishes will need reinstating afterwards.
Keep the report with your records
The report describes the investigation and relevant work. If you plan to claim, ask your insurer about authorisation and reporting requirements. A report does not guarantee cover or reimbursement.
Put the information into context
This guide explains common investigation principles. Your property, the available access and the actual test findings determine the right next step. It is not a diagnosis of an unseen system.
