Detection & repair

Trace and access

Connect the investigation, the necessary opening and the repair record.

What needs opening, and why?

Detection findings inform the proposed access to the affected pipe. We explain the reason for the opening, the agreed plumbing repair and what finish will need reinstating afterwards. A written report records the investigation and relevant work for your own records or insurer.

A useful starting point

If using insurance, check any authorisation or reporting requirements before booking. Keep earlier correspondence available.

Tell us about any earlier investigation, even if it did not identify the source. Knowing which checks were made and what access was available helps us decide what remains useful.

Choose a test that answers a question

Borescope inspection may be useful where the conditions and pipe arrangement suit it. Insulation, bends and obstructions limit what can be seen. A camera view does not assess every part of a hidden system.

An investigation can combine methods. We explain the findings and their limits, including when the evidence does not yet justify an opening.

Agree access before the repair

An insurer decides cover and reimbursement. Decorative and remedial reinstatement is excluded, even where access for the plumbing repair is included.

Once the proposed work is clear, the agreed plumbing repair is completed with the necessary parts and materials. Suitable checks follow the repair, and the report records relevant observations, work and any remaining matters.

What the residential package covers

  • Investigation of the reported problem
  • Specialist detection and pipe tracing
  • Necessary access or excavation
  • The agreed plumbing repair
  • Parts and materials for that repair
  • Suitable checks after the repair
  • A written Trace & Access report
  • A 12-month workmanship warranty

£1,290 includes applicable tax. The £100 deposit is deducted, leaving £1,190. Decorative and remedial reinstatement is excluded. No hourly surcharge is added solely because the agreed residential work takes longer.
