Water meter leak investigation
Make sense of movement or consumption that seems unusual.
Is the reading consistent with normal use?
We consider appliances, storage systems and the supply arrangement before attributing movement to a buried leak. Suitable authorised checks can help separate the property supply from internal demand. Findings then guide any further tracing.
A useful starting point
Bring relevant readings or supplier correspondence. Tell us if the meter serves another property as well.
Tell us about any earlier investigation, even if it did not identify the source. Knowing which checks were made and what access was available helps us decide what remains useful.
Choose a test that answers a question
Pressure testing may be useful where the conditions and pipe arrangement suit it. A pressure change does not identify a location on its own, and test conditions can affect interpretation.
An investigation can combine methods. We explain the findings and their limits, including when the evidence does not yet justify an opening.
Agree access before the repair
Meter movement by itself does not establish the repair location or responsibility. Water supplier assets remain a separate matter.
Once the proposed work is clear, the agreed plumbing repair is completed with the necessary parts and materials. Suitable checks follow the repair, and the report records relevant observations, work and any remaining matters.
