Check the private supply between the meter and the property.
Is the incoming supply losing water?
The meter position, internal stop valve and possible pipe route help establish a sensible test boundary. Once ordinary use and accessible fittings have been considered, suitable listening or tracing can narrow the investigation along the private supply. Shared connections and changes of pipe material affect the approach.
A useful starting point
Share any water-company letter and the location of known valves. Mention if your pipe crosses another property or serves more than one building.
Tell us about any earlier investigation, even if it did not identify the source. Knowing which checks were made and what access was available helps us decide what remains useful.
Choose a test that answers a question
Acoustic listening may be useful where the conditions and pipe arrangement suit it. A quiet result does not rule out a leak. Soft pipe materials and noisy sites can reduce useful sound.
An investigation can combine methods. We explain the findings and their limits, including when the evidence does not yet justify an opening.
Agree access before the repair
Water-company apparatus and disputed ownership are outside an assumed private repair instruction. Permissions and responsibility need to be clear.
Once the proposed work is clear, the agreed plumbing repair is completed with the necessary parts and materials. Suitable checks follow the repair, and the report records relevant observations, work and any remaining matters.

£1,290 includes applicable tax. The £100 deposit is deducted, leaving £1,190. Decorative and remedial reinstatement is excluded. No hourly surcharge is added solely because the agreed residential work takes longer.
