The Flow Detect notebook
Getting ready for leak detection
A little useful preparation can make the appointment easier.
Gather what already exists
Your postcode, a description of the signs and earlier contractor notes are a useful starting point. Installation photos and pipe drawings may help where they are available; you do not need to create them.
Make access practical
Confirm keys, parking and permission for the affected areas. Accessible cupboards and existing hatches should be available where safe. Tell us if another flat or shared service may be involved.
Leave testing to the visit
Do not open floors, disconnect fittings or operate unfamiliar valves in anticipation of the engineer. Ask about any system operating conditions needed for the chosen investigation.
Put the information into context
This guide explains common investigation principles. Your property, the available access and the actual test findings determine the right next step. It is not a diagnosis of an unseen system.
