When the pipe arrangement allows it, sensors can collect leak-related sound at separate positions. Information about the route, pipe length and material supports interpretation of the relationship between the signals. It is one method within the wider investigation.
Understand its limits
Uncertain routes, mixed materials, weak signals and inaccessible fittings can limit usefulness.
A useful result needs the right conditions and context. The method is considered alongside the pipe layout, the symptoms and other findings, rather than treated as a guarantee.
